Well, after three days of relative dreariness, Morris came back to life today. The morning came clear, and the sun showed up to the party, and everyone was outside enjoying it, wishing it were just spring already. It was the sort of day where everyone sort of cranes their heads to the sky, and says, “Oh, this is what I was waiting through winter for.” People were walking around outside, short-sleeved, some shorted, sitting around in the still-brown grass talking, everyone’s mood noticeably heightened by the pleasantly surprising change in weather. While sitting out on a bench reading, Katrina propped against my shoulder knitting, I seriously considered skipping out on class and just enjoying the day, because how often does a day like this come along? How long will it be the till the next one? It was so strange and wonderful to hear the smack of baseball gloves again and the excited chatter, and strums of guitars in the grass. Getting a frisbee stuck in a tree, and throwing a shoe to knock it down, which in turn also gets stuck, as does the second shoe when it is used to knock down the first shoe so we can try again to get the frisbee back. The weather made me remember why I love this campus so much. We have alot of grass, and even better, people who get out and enjoy it anytime they can. Cook-outs and frisbee and football well into the night, only stopping the play because none of us could see what was being thrown anymore, and even then it was with a sweet reluctance. With everyone so happy to see spring again, the campus feels more like a community that it had in months.

A day to enjoy.
